A Nationwide Easter Hunt – Supporting Children’s Online Safety

This Easter, families and young people across more than 40 Swedish cities will be able to take part in a unique egg hunt – where every egg found makes a real difference. The initiative is led by tech company Consid in partnership with Save the Children Sweden, launching a nationwide QR code hunt in which each scan generates a donation to support children’s safety online.

Running from 14 to 22 April, the Easter campaign is more than just a fun holiday activity – it’s also a powerful reminder of the digital threats facing children today. The aim is to raise awareness around the importance of creating a safer online environment, while offering a free and meaningful experience for the whole family during the Easter break.

– Consid’s idea to co-create a different kind of Easter egg hunt for children and young people felt exciting and inspiring. Their consultants have developed an engaging interactive experience that also highlights our mission to ensure children’s online safety. Each scanned egg promotes physical activity, outdoor play – and contributes one SEK to our work. It’s a win-win-win, says Emelie Björkwall, Head of Fundraising and Partnerships at Save the Children Sweden.

QR codes are hidden in city centres, parks and green spaces – no app download or registration is required. Participants simply use their smartphone cameras to scan the codes, and every scan counts. The game has been developed by Consid, who built the technology and is donating one krona per scan to Save the Children, as part of the organisations’ long-term collaboration.

To further inspire participation, players also have the chance to win exciting prizes – including a weekend trip for two to *Glitched*, Scandinavia’s largest gaming festival.

Save the Children Sweden has long been a leading voice for children’s rights in digital environments, working to prevent online abuse, harassment and exploitation. Their efforts include educational resources for schools and guardians, as well as direct support for children and young people. They also emphasise the importance of equipping children with the tools they need to navigate the internet safely – and of holding adults accountable for creating a secure and inclusive digital world where children’s voices are heard.

Peter Hellgren, CEO of Consid, underscores the role businesses can play in social impact:

– We want to show that technology can be a force for good. By combining movement, play and civic engagement, we hope to reach thousands of children and adults this Easter – and contribute to something that truly matters.

The Easter hunt is a chance to do good – and to talk about how we can build a better digital future for the next generation.
