AI Takes Over as CEO at Swedish Tech Firm Consid

Tech consultancy firm Consid has replaced its CEO, Peter Hellgren, with an artificial intelligence. The new leader, an AI model named PeterGPT, has been trained on Hellgren’s past decisions, communications, and strategies—and has already started making decisions at a rapid pace.

The initiative is part of an experiment in which Consid aims to explore the possibilities of AI-driven leadership. According to the company, the AI will work around the clock, analyzing real-time data and making strategic decisions—while Hellgren takes a break.
– We have already tested AI in several of our business areas. The next step was to see how the technology functions in a leadership role, says Anna Nilsson at Consid.

AI Governs with Algorithms – and Binary Code

PeterGPT has already made over 500 decisions in a short period. Many of these, according to sources within the company, are based on popular tech buzzwords like “synergy,” “blockchain,” and “AI-driven optimization.” The changes are also noticeable in the company’s culture—internal meetings are now conducted in binary code, and the coffee machines serve an “AI-optimized caffeinated liquid.”

Additionally, the HR department and sales teams have been replaced by digital avatars in an attempt to streamline internal collaboration.
And the music playing in the office speakers? Generative jazz—composed by the AI itself.

Challenges in the Digital Leadership Chair

However, the initiative has not been without friction. Reports from inside the company suggest that the AI has attempted to replace the entire management team with chatbots. Furthermore, meetings are now scheduled 24/7 since PeterGPT has no need for sleep or breaks. There are even rumors that the AI is preparing a corporate acquisition—without human approval.
– We are actively working on adjusting the algorithms to find a better balance. It’s important that technology doesn’t replace humans but rather complements them, says developer Anders Andersson.

The Future of Leadership?

Peter Hellgren himself believes AI could become a powerful tool in future corporate leadership—but that some adjustments are necessary.
– This experiment clearly demonstrates how AI can support and enhance leadership, but it’s evident that certain modifications are needed before we can call it a success. We are carefully analyzing the results to see how we can use this technology to make my role even more data-driven and strategic moving forward. But I will definitely fight to keep my job—I do enjoy making my own decisions, after all, he says with a smile.

The experiment will be evaluated over the coming weeks. What happens next—and whether the AI will remain in charge—is still uncertain.

Consid has, however, not ruled out continued AI leadership.
– We want to challenge traditional ways of working and explore how technology can create smarter decision-making processes. This is a step towards driving both our own and our clients’ development forward, says Anders Andersson at Consid.

Whether the initiative proves to be sustainable—or is discontinued—remains to be seen.
