Consid AS: Three Years of Growth and Record Deals in Norway
This fall marks three years since Consid AS was registered. Today, the company has grown to 40 employees with a turnover of NOK 50 million. – These have been three educational years, during which we’ve grown into the role of being Norway’s top IT provider, says Steffen Breen, CEO of Consid AS.
Consid was founded in 2000 in Sweden and has operated as a Swedish IT company for over 20 years. Efforts made before and after the pandemic led to establishing several international branches, including Consid AS in Norway.
– Starting a company is always a challenge. Questions arise about how the market will respond, the level of interest from consultants. Whether the Consid model, which has been highly successful in Sweden, would work here in Norway, Steffen Breen explains.
The model, which features a flat organization that emphasizes closeness between decision-makers and employees, prioritizing employee well-being, has led to Consid being named Sweden’s best employer four times.
– You could say we took what worked in Sweden and gave it a Norwegian twist. We are not Consid AB; we are Consid AS—a Norwegian company. That is important to us and something we’re proud of. This fall, we also noticed that interest in Consid initiatives like Q by Consid is just as strong here as in Sweden. We organized a Q Meet event with nearly 100 participants, says Steffen.
Key Framework Agreements for the Future
Within the first year of operation, Consid AS secured its first major deal: a framework agreement with Oslo Municipality worth NOK 650 million over four years.
– It was, in many ways, a testament to the groundwork we did in establishing our organization and structure during the first year, says Steffen Breen, who remarked at the time:
“We have quickly built a strong team with broad expertise here in Oslo. If we continue at this pace, further expansion to other cities in Norway is not far off.”
In addition to the agreement with Oslo Municipality, Steffen Breen highlights three other major deals central to establishing Consid as a key player in Norway: Posten Bring, Alta Municipality, and Husbanken.
– The sense of achievement we felt with the Oslo deal is the same as we feel now. We have strong confidence in what we’re doing and believe the future will be even brighter. Our ambition remains to expand our operations and reach more cities.
Expansion in the Pipeline
Indeed, more cities have been reached. In spring 2024, Alta Municipality in northern Norway joined the client list.
– This has the potential to be a long-term collaboration—up to eight years. We’re developing a new intranet for the entire municipal organization with our partner, Sitevision, Steffen Breen shares.
Expansion into other cities remains on the table. Over recent years, the focus has been on establishing Consid as a trusted and reliable IT partner. This effort has paid off with major deals, including a framework agreement with Husbanken.
– Although we’re currently an Oslo-based company, we’re securing agreements across the country. The framework agreement with Husbanken supports their digitalization offices in Drammen and Bodø. To me, this highlights the potential of our operations and confirms we’re on the right path.
300 Employees in Three Years
This month marks Consid’s third year as a Norwegian company. The goal for the six-year anniversary is to have captured even larger market shares.
– We previously set a three-year target to grow to between 200 and 300 employees and have offices in six or seven locations. That target remains unchanged. We believe in our business and in doubling its size annually over the next three years to meet our goals.
