Q Mentoria Kickstarts the Fall with 100 Participants

The fall period for Q Mentoria has officially begun, with 100 participants across the country. Through its mentorship program, IT company Consid continues to engage and inspire women and non-binary individuals in the IT and tech industries.

– The best part of being a mentor in Q Mentoria is meeting like-minded individuals who are driven to learn. They have the will, and it’s only the lack of experience that holds them back, says Sebastian Dahlgren, Senior Software Tester at Consid and mentor in Q Mentoria.

Q Mentoria was launched as an initiative to inspire women and non-binary individuals to pursue careers in IT and Tech. Through the program, Consid’s mentors guide and share knowledge with their mentees, demonstrating what a study or career path in the IT sector can look like in practice.

– One of the reasons I chose to become a mentor is that I didn’t have a mentor when I started nearly ten years ago; I had to learn everything as I went along. So being able to help someone along the way, to the best of my ability, is something I appreciate, and hopefully, my mentees do too, says Sebastian Dahlgren.

He is now mentoring for the third time, and this period, he has two mentees.

– I feel that I am constantly growing in this role, as the expectations placed on me as a mentor vary greatly depending on who I have as a mentee and their needs, says Sebastian Dahlgren.

Rebecka Ellis, Team Lead for National Recruitment at Consid, has also chosen to be a mentor this fall.

– It feels important to contribute to Consid’s efforts to encourage more women and non-binary individuals to take an interest in the IT industry. If I can provide any form of guidance, support, or just be a sounding board, while also developing myself further, I’m more than happy to do so, says Rebecka Ellis.

She continues:

– It’s wonderful that two different parties, who might not otherwise have come into contact, get to learn from each other and exchange experiences.

Since Rebecka works in recruitment, she sees additional benefits to being a mentor.

– From my perspective as a recruiter, I see this as an opportunity to gather input on how we can attract women and non-binary individuals in our recruitment processes.

The next period for Q Mentoria will take place in spring 2025.
