Leadership that includes

We meet up with Atena Ahmadi in the old button factory in Värnamo where Consid is now located. It is below freezing outside, and the spring sun is peeking around the corner. Inside the doors, we are greeted by a warm and welcoming feeling in a picturesque office environment. We climb the stairs to the attic and settle into one of the sofas, where we begin our conversation with Atena.

– What attracted me to Consid was the familiar feeling and how well the cooperation worked, despite the fact that the offices are spread all over Sweden. I used to be a customer of Consid and always experienced competent and pleasant employees, which says a lot about the company’s culture. I also had the impression that Consid really takes care of its employees and offers good opportunities for development – and it really seems to be true, says Atena.

Atena’s journey started with a degree in interaction design, which laid the foundation for an impressive career. She worked for 13 years as a webmaster at a municipality, where she had overall responsibility for all the municipality’s websites, leading web projects and driving digital accessibility issues. It was a period marked by successes and milestones, such as when, as project manager, she launched the municipality’s first intranet with social features – an innovative initiative at the time.

– I’m particularly proud that I managed to shape my own service after an internship, in the middle of a recession. But the best part was when I managed to make the management team understand the importance of accessibility. Seeing their ‘aha’ moment gave me the feeling of really making a difference, says Atena with a proud smile.

Creating opportunities for all

When it comes to her commitment to digital accessibility, passion shines through. Atena has taken an active role in Consid’s Excellerate program, where she trains colleagues on the importance of accessibility.

– Accessibility is a human right, she says emphatically and continues:

– Spreading knowledge and creating a more inclusive digital world is something that motivates me every day.

For Atena, digital accessibility is about creating digital environments where everyone can participate, regardless of individual circumstances such as language, age and different disabilities.

– A society where everyone has equal access to information and services is a society with greater social sustainability. Digital accessibility increases opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. When more people can use digital tools and platforms, this leads to broader economic growth, which in turn strengthens a sustainable society, explains Atena.

When asked how small changes in digital accessibility can make a big difference, Atena cites examples such as subtitles in video conferencing systems and optimized web design – measures that both contribute to social inclusion and reduce environmental impact. She is convinced that the future will bring greater demands for accessible services and products, which in turn will drive innovation.

Atena’s strength as a trainer lies in her passion for the subject and ability to make it both personal and clear.

– I have personal experiences of not feeling included and I come from a country where basic rights are limited, especially for women. This motivates me to work for a more just and inclusive digital world.

When the opportunity to become a trainer in Consid’s Excellerate program came up, Atena did not hesitate for a second. Contributing to a more accessible digital environment and inspiring others to do the same is close to her heart. But what does she do to relax after a long day at work?

– A long hot shower, my long skincare routine with a lovely face mask to finish.

With a clear vision for the future and a willingness to always challenge herself, Atena continues to be a strong advocate for development, accessibility and inclusion – making her a valuable asset to both Consid and society at large.
