Developing Both People and Systems
Malin Emilsson has extensive experience in developing both individuals and systems. Her initial years in the IT industry were spent as an educator at the University of Skövde, followed by significant roles in the automotive industry as well as in the banking and finance sectors.
– What I enjoyed most back then was engaging with users when new systems were being implemented. I relished the challenge of identifying user needs and addressing any resistance that might arise, recalls Malin Emilsson.
However, in 2012, Malin transitioned away from the IT sector to focus entirely on developing people rather than systems. She pursued education in coaching and change management, emphasizing behavioral aspects.
– In recent years, I’ve been involved in longer-term change initiatives within companies seeking improved collaboration methods. I’ve also worked with executive teams aiming to achieve alignment in their missions,” she explains.
Combining Experiences in Digital Transformation
Digital transformation involves behavioral changes, and it is in such transformations that Malin truly excels. She has recently joined Consid as a Change Manager after a decade as an entrepreneur.
– I was eager to work within a broader context and take on more long-term assignments. I look forward to supporting companies in their transformation journeys and offering perspectives on how we can assist individuals needing to transition, particularly in the realm of ‘putting people first,’ to deliver substantial value to clients and create successful enterprises, says Malin.
In our conversation, Malin has just begun her first assignment with one of Consid’s clients. The focus is on an organizational change initiative aimed at adopting agile practices.
– I’m leading a group of individuals working across several Scrum teams. My role is to support these teams in having the right conditions to work effectively in their deliveries. Additionally, I identify and establish routines and processes that add value. The organization is sizable, necessitating the scaling up of agile methodologies, moving more towards adopting SAFe as a framework, she explains.
In addition to Malin’s expertise in Scrum, SAFe, and agile methodologies, she also applies her knowledge of effective team research. However, she emphasizes the importance of not getting stuck in methodologies.
– What we do should create value for both employees and clients, and consequently, for the company as a whole. This requires careful consideration of what is important and what is not. To determine this, I have a wealth of talented individuals within the organization to rely on. We collectively do vital work at all levels.
Collaborating to Accelerate the Transformation Process
It’s evident that Malin places significant emphasis on soft skills. As both a Consulting Manager at Consid in Skövde and a Change Manager, she embodies a coaching approach, characterized by empathy and structure.
– I see a substantial need for support during digital transformation, and we need to address the change processes from multiple perspectives. My expertise in behavioral change and agile methodologies alone isn’t sufficient. We need several wise consultants providing the right support to the client, and through Consid’s transformation team, we can do just that.
Consid’s approach, as Malin mentions, is always to collaborate in ways that accelerate the transformation process. To create, communicate, and drive organizational and cultural change, we bring together expertise in Brand & Business Strategy, People, Culture & Organization, and Digital Ecosystems.
– At Consid, I have the privilege of working with many other professionals essential to digital transformation. I look forward to collaborating with more colleagues on joint assignments.
