HR and Health Coach

The coastal winds blow cold as we meet up with Sebastian Korosec at Consid’s office in Halmstad. With the Christmas tree nearby and a coffee cup in hand, we settle into one of the meeting rooms. Sebastian joined Consid in October 2022.

– What drew me to Consid was the company’s strong reputation in digital development and innovation. I was also attracted to the inclusive corporate culture and the opportunity to work from a local office in my hometown, he shares.

Sebastian has previously worked in various industries, including guidance and coaching at a company in Ängelholm and as a personal trainer at a gym. Fitness and health are among his main interests.

– It’s something that has grown throughout my career. Since I’m a trained personal trainer and fitness instructor, I’ve often been asked to give lectures on the topic. Over time, it became a natural passion, he explains.

Today, he combines his role in HR and recruitment with being a health coach. During his years in the workforce, he has identified a common mistake companies make regarding workplace health and well-being.

– I’ve noticed that many companies fail to take a proactive approach to well-being and health. They often focus on short-term solutions but miss the opportunity to build a sustainable work culture that supports mental health, recovery, and a balance between work and personal life.

He continues:

– Unclear job roles and high workloads can also lead to stress and reduced job satisfaction. Additionally, there’s often a lack of sufficient individualization—what works for one person may not work for another. To succeed, companies need to integrate health and well-being into their long-term strategic planning.

Sebastian believes that the key to creating the right conditions for workplace health lies in fostering a healthy culture centered on inclusion and community.

– It’s essential to create a work environment where employees feel safe and appreciated. Of course, there are also more tangible initiatives, such as wellness allowances and health check-ups, he explains.

To build a positive and healthy culture within his own team, Sebastian focuses on promoting collaboration and support.

– I believe open communication and respect are fundamental to a positive and healthy culture. It’s important for everyone to feel heard and valued.

Stress, Anxiety, and Sebastian’s Top Tips

Stress and anxiety are common aspects of daily life for most Swedes today. Sebastian shares three key strategies for managing stress:

– The first step is identifying the causes and becoming aware of your stressors—it’s essential for managing them. The second is movement and physical activity, focusing on regular exercise that helps the body cope with stress hormones. The third is taking breaks during the day. Even just five minutes to stretch or get some fresh air can significantly reduce stress levels.

He also emphasizes the importance of diet for both mental and physical health.

– Having the right diet is crucial. The food we eat serves as the body’s fuel, impacting everything from energy levels and immunity to brain function and long-term health.

For Sebastian, the foundation of good health is a balance between physical activity, mental recovery, and strong social relationships. High-quality, regular sleep and a nutritious, varied diet are also essential, as is paying attention to the body’s signals. However, he’s quick to note that there’s no universal solution for everyone.

– It’s challenging to give a single piece of advice that applies to everyone, as health is influenced by numerous factors—genetics, lifestyle, culture, environment, and individual needs. But if I were to give an overarching recommendation, it would be to strive for balance in all areas of life.

What do you do to relax and recharge?

– To unwind, I enjoy working out, taking walks in nature, spending time with friends, or simply relaxing at home with my partner. These activities help me release stress and recharge my energy, Sebastian explains.

Social Well-Being

Another important aspect of health that is often overlooked is social well-being. This involves having positive and meaningful relationships with others and feeling a sense of belonging and security in one’s social environment.

– It also means having opportunities to collaborate, communicate, and contribute to a community, both at work and in private life.

According to Sebastian, there is significant potential for companies to foster an environment where employees thrive socially.

– It’s about encouraging collaboration and creating opportunities for building relationships, both through work and social activities. Small things, like promoting open communication and showing appreciation, can make a big difference. It’s also crucial for companies to actively counteract negative behaviors like bullying or exclusion, ensuring that everyone feels safe and respected, he explains.

New Year’s Resolutions and Fitness Pressure

As the New Year approaches, it often brings a wave of health-related resolutions.

– New Year’s resolutions can be a great way to kickstart change, but it’s important to keep goals realistic, sustainable, and focused on long-term health. Instead of setting expectations for major life changes, it’s often better to focus on building healthy habits that you can maintain throughout the year.

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions yourself?

– I don’t have any specific resolutions for 2025 yet, but knowing myself, I’m sure something will pop up during the final hours of the year, he says with a big smile.
