New Website for Alingsås Municipality

For years, Alingsås Municipality relied on a WordPress-based website that covered basic needs but became increasingly difficult to manage over time. Editors found the interface cumbersome, making updates time-consuming. Additionally, the platform lacked the flexibility to meet new requirements without extensive development efforts.

The biggest challenges with our previous website were that it relied on traditional WordPress, requiring either custom development or additional plugins. Over time, this led to a cluttered structure. The municipality needed a long-term, sustainable solution—one that was easy to manage, scalable, and compliant with evolving accessibility standards without requiring extensive technical maintenance.

The answer was Consid and a new website built on Municipio, an open-source platform developed by the City of Helsingborg. Designed specifically for municipalities and public sector organizations, Municipio provides a flexible, future-proof, and cost-effective solution—without licensing fees.

The project was carried out using an agile approach to ensure the website was tailored to the needs of Alingsås Municipality while leveraging Municipio’s existing strengths. Key efforts included:

• Development of new modules, including a hero section and form divider
• Customization of existing modules to better support municipal requirements
• Optimization for search and accessibility, making the site more intuitive and user-friendly

Since the platform differs significantly from traditional WordPress with plugins, we carefully evaluated the system before giving it the green light. We consulted with both the City of Helsingborg and Whitespace, major contributors to the project, who vouched for its quality. Combined with its focus on accessibility and long-term sustainability for the public sector, we were confident that this was the right choice for the client. –

Improved User Experience and Functionality

To create a more structured and user-friendly experience, several key features have been implemented:

• Event Calendar – Helps residents easily find upcoming events and activities
• Digital Notice Board – Automates the management of official notices and meeting minutes in compliance with municipal regulations
• Service Disruptions Page – Centralizes information on ongoing maintenance and outages in a clear overview
• Personalization with rek.ai – Tailors links and content based on visitor interests and behavior

Through a close and efficient collaboration between Alingsås Municipality and Consid, the project was delivered smoothly, with a strong focus on the most critical needs.

Our experience with the final result and collaboration with Consid has been excellent.
