Challenge
New legal requirements and directives within the maritime industry are continuously updated, particularly regarding carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from ships. To meet these changes, Chris-Marine, a company that sells precision tools for ship engines, wanted to offer a solution that simplifies emissions measurement and reporting for shipowners. Additionally, the company aimed to ensure that collected data could be managed and visualized in the cloud for easy access and analysis.
– Being part of a project that actively contributes to reducing environmental emissions through groundbreaking technology has been an incredible opportunity. Collaborating with such a passionate and skilled customer as Chris-Marine has made the journey even more inspiring, says Fredrik Mannerstedt, Project Manager at Consid.
Solution: Trust-Ocean
Chris-Marine needed an advanced solution to handle continuous collection and analysis of ship data from across the globe. Together with Consid, Trust-Ocean was developed—an intelligent performance and monitoring system that enables real-time reporting, fuel consumption optimization, and ensures compliance with international regulations. The system collects and reports data to meet regulatory requirements for:
- CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator): Monitoring and improving ships’ carbon intensity.
- MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification): Greenhouse gas emissions reporting in accordance with EU requirements.
- IMO DCS (International Maritime Organization Data Collection System): Global fuel data registration.
- EU ETS (European Union Emissions Trading System): Accurate emission calculations and emissions trading.
Trust-Ocean is an integrated hardware and software solution that continuously collects high-quality sensor data in a unique digital ship-to-shore platform. Built on .NET Framework and implemented in Azure, the system enables a seamless data flow to the verifier and provides a secure, cloud-based infrastructure for storing validated and reliable data. The collected data includes everything from current fuel consumption and positioning to reports covering one or multiple years of emission values. By leveraging specific Azure services, data is received, stored, analyzed, and presented to users in the Trust-Ocean web application.
