Creating accessible products and platforms is something that benefits all users and is now a requirement. The laws and guidelines that previously only applied to public institutions will also apply to the private sector starting in 2025, which makes it even more important for your team to understand what is required and how to incorporate accessibility into their daily work. This course is aimed at teams and organizations working with UX, who may have a basic understanding of accessibility but struggle to apply their knowledge in practice or want to learn more.

About the course

Content

The course will start with theoretical foundations but quickly transition to exercises, tips, and tricks for applying the knowledge in practice. You can expect the following from the course:

  • Basic overview of topics such as landmarks, focus order, alt-texts, etc.
  • Familiarize yourself with screen readers and learn basic navigation with one
  • Exercises with tools/plugins for evaluating existing websites
  • Exercises with tools/plugins for reviewing your design files
  • Exercises for creating markups/annotations for design handoff

The goal of the course is to increase confidence in taking responsibility for accessibility work as a UX designer.

Target audience

The course is aimed at teams and companies that have started exploring accessibility but still feel uncertain about the practical steps to take. Some prior knowledge is advantageous, but participants are not expected to be experts in the subject in any way. The course is adapted for Mac users who work in Figma.
